DarkHorse Odds Review
Review of DarkHorse Odds
DarkHorse Odds is a software provider of tools to maximize the profits from converting free bets and other sports book promotions.
Let’s address the gorilla in the room right away – the monthly rate is $39, which is ~20% the cost of OddsJam.
DarkHorse Odds offers 7 different “bet finders”, each with a built-in calculator tailored to a specific application of matched betting, or as we like to call it betting both sides.
- Profit Boost – maximize profit boost promos
- Free Bet – convert free bets
- Site Credit – convert site credit
- Risk Free Bet – maximize a risk-free bet
- Qualifying Bet – maximize a promotion such as a Bet and Get or Bet Match
- Bonus Voucher – maximize bonus vouchers from books like SuperBook
- Arbitrage – find arb opportunities
How much is DarkHorse Odds a Month?
DarkHorse Odds has a free 2-day trial for new members. The monthly rate is $39 a month and new users get $30 off their first month.
Competitive products like OddsJam start at $200 a month – DarkHorse Odds gets the job done for less than 20% of the price.
Example of Free Bet Conversion using DarkHorse Odds Free Bet Finder
As with most free bet converters, you can first select which sportsbook you have a free bet on that you’re looking to convert. DarkHorse Odds covers 45+ sportsbooks giving you a wide range of options, including state-specific sportsbooks.
From there DarkHorse Odds offers a strong set of integrated filters including the ability to filter by sport, market, odds, hedge book and more. This is the strongest set of filters we’ve seen on any service so far.
The ability to create preset filter settings is very useful. A great example would be for a promotion like FanDuel’s Dinger Tuesday where you want to only see Baseball player props.
There is a nice warning which is built in when betting on a MLB game due to the difference in house rules between the different sportsbook. This is something which can be disabled at any time under user preferences.
The bet slip then shows you how much to bet on each books. By default the bet amounts are rounded off to the nearest dollar in order to help better disguise the fact you calculated a hedged amount. This can be disable but this is something we do in order to reduce the risk of being limited.
Each bet slip shows an explanation of each outcome so you can easily understand what happens if one side were to win.
Multi-Step Calculations Made Easy
DarkHorse Odds offers several unique features which make it easy when trying to maximize the value of a sportsbook promotion.
One of them is the ability to assume a conversion rate to be used for Risk Free Bet and Qualifying Bet (ie: Bet and Get) calculators. Both of these calculators automatically account for the assumed profit of your second bet when determining how much you should wager in your initial bet. When we evaluate promotions we always use 70% for our assumed free bet conversions, but this gives you an easy way to change that if you want to.
Who Should Sign-up For DarkHorse Odds?
If you’re looking for an odds comparison service to help you convert free bets or take advantage of sportsbook promotions then we’d recommend checking out DarkHorse Odds. Their built-in calculators and flexible filters/settings make it easy to get customized data that you can use to quickly turn a profit by betting both sides.
If you’re interested in +EV betting, OddsJam’s service is a better match with the “Positive EV” bet finder that compares line to Pinnacle. Additionally, OddsJam offers more markets than DarkHorse Odds currently does. For example, you won’t find any MLB first 3 or 5 inning lines. Lastly, lines on DarkHorse Odds are available to be updated every ~3-4 minutes, (used to be 7 minutes when we first reviewed them). When an update is available the icon turns yellow and you will need to manually click “update”. This update rate works fine for most free bets but will make it hard if you’re looking to use the service for arbing.
